I'm a Tween Job’s Daughters is your place! A fun and exciting group of girls who love life and learning about our
place in the world. A lady named Mrs. Ethel T. Wead Mick created this group for girls in 1920—over 90 years ago! We have members in the United States, Canada, Australia, the Philippines, and Brazil. Over 10,000 girls, ages 10–20, belong to Job’s Daughters worldwide. In Job’s Daughters members learn to be leaders and have the chance to travel to meet and work with other members from around the world. There are many activities such as swimming parties, dances, family picnics, sleepovers, mini-golf and much more! The members run their meetings and their activities. Job’s Daughters raise money for the Hearing Impaired Kids Endowment (HIKE) each year. HIKE gives the money to provide children with hearing aids and other equipment. Over $5 million has been raised and more than 2,250 hearing devices have been donated to children. ‘‘And in all the land were no women found so fair as the daughters of Job; and their father gave them inheritance among their brethren’’ (Job 42:15). This is the Bible verse upon which Job’s Daughters is based. We want you to join with us for fun, friendship, helping others, and the chance to learn some great life skills. The values of Job’s Daughters are fairness, honesty, equality, and respect. So what are you waiting for? Job’s Daughters is your place to belong! |
I'm a Teen Founded in 1920 by Mrs. Ethel T. Wead Mick, Job’s Daughters International® is an organization of young women boasting over 10,000 members in the United States,
Canada, Australia, the Philippines, and Brazil. Job’s Daughters was founded in Omaha, Nebraska, during the height of the Women’s Suffrage Movement just prior to the ratification of the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution, which gave women the right to vote. Mrs. Mick saw parallels between the challenges women faced as they fought to be accepted as equals and those trials told in the Old Testament Story of Job. As Job was true and steadfast to his faith and never faltered, women would need to be determined in their fight to become equal participants in society. She especially liked Job 42:15, ‘‘And in all the land were no women found so fair as the daughters of Job; and their father gave them inheritance among their brethren.’’ Members of Job’s Daughters gain valuable leadership experience, serve as part of a team, and learn democratic principles as they run their own meetings using parliamentary procedure, decide on activities, and plan service and fundraising events. Members also have fun together at activities such as swimming parties, dances, family picnics, slumber parties, miniature golf, marching in parades and so much more. Opportunities to travel around their own country and abroad to visit other members typically result in friendships that last a lifetime. Job’s Daughters alumnae have careers in nursing, law, education, politics, entertainment, and various other fields. Job’s Daughters offers scholarships every year to help members with college tuition, textbooks, and other expenses. Many members have pursued higher education at the Master’s and Doctoral levels. Just like Mrs. Mick envisioned, Job’s Daughters creates strong, determined young women who are personally and professionally ready for life. Members of Job’s Daughters actively support the Hearing Impaired Kids Endowment (HIKE), which purchases hearing assistive devices for hearing impaired children. Over $5 million has been raised for HIKE and more than 2,400 hearing devices have been donated to children who could not afford them otherwise. Job’s Daughters International® offers the qualities that today’s young women want and need from organizations that earn their commitment: fun, friendship, helping others and the chance to learn organizational and leadership skills. We look forward to you joining us and expanding your knowledge, skills, talents, and abilities. |
